The octopus is very lifelike, especially loved the eyes. And it is very well made. My daughter loves it (she is a genetic biologist), but loves all .manner of living things, and the octopus is one of her favorites. The only negative thing I would say is that packaging. It arrived in what appeared to be a black plastic trash bag into which it had been tightly stuffed and taped into a ball about the size of a basketball, which looked like the package was damaged in transit. Fortunately, I was very careful cutting through the tape - I could easily have damaged the contents. The label gave me no indication of the contents, either. If the paging is deliberate, I actually loved it ! When I cut through enough to see what was I was lucky enough to see the eye first, and soon after, it sprang free and showed it's magnificant self. I loved it ,and had I known what was inside,I would have simply sent it to my daughter without removing the wrapping. A note attached to the outside of the package -something like "open with care, creature inside may attack if agitated" would have added to the fun.
All in all, a delightful creature - and my daughter says my grandson is also thoroughly in love with him (they have decided it is a girl, and my grandson has named her Olive), so she is sharing custody. And I will probably be ordering the smaller model for him.

I got this for my new grandson for Christmas, so I haven't given it to him yet. However, I think it's great. All my kids that have seen it, love it, and said that if they didn't already have too much stuff like that, they'd want on too. I'm thinking that this little boy will love it.

I fell in love with it when I saw it online. I spent years designing and making stuffed animals and have even made one octopus. This one is so very well done and the fabrics are some not easily obtained by a home sewer. I have it on hold til Christmas. It is what I want from my husband. We have been married nearly 60 years, so are not shy about picking out things we really want to be gifted with. The octopus is just fabulous.
